Frequently asked questions.

What is an occupational therapist?

An occupational therapist (OT) helps children develop the skills they need to thrive in everyday life—at home, at school, and in the community. For children, this often includes play skills, fine and gross motor coordination, sensory processing, self-regulation, independence with daily routines, and more. Pediatric OTs use play-based, individualized approaches to help kids build confidence and functional skills.

does my child need occupational therapy?

If your child struggles with things like handwriting, attention, motor coordination, transitions, feeding, dressing, or emotional regulation, OT may help. Children who seem overly sensitive to touch, movement, or noise—or who seek constant movement or pressure—can also benefit from sensory-based occupational therapy. If you’re unsure, we offer screenings and consultations to help you decide.
